Shopmobility

Local Solutions has been operating since 1974 and operates across the Liverpool City Region and North Wales. Shopmobility is a service of Local Solutions. Liverpool Shopmobility supports people with mobility restrictions through the loan of mobility equipment. It hires out manual wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

It also sells mobility and disability aids including walking sticks and RADAR keys. The service is available to Liverpool residents and visitors to the city. It supports people whose mobility is temporarily affected by illness, injury or operation, as well as anyone who finds walking longer distances difficult. Shopmobility is located in Liverpool ONE Q Park on Level 3.

Liverpool visitors and residents alike describe the mobility scooter and wheelchair hire service at this city-centre outlet as welcoming, patient and knowledgeable, with staff repeatedly praised for taking time to explain controls and answer questions before handing over equipment. Several reviewers highlight the simple booking process, involving photo identification and proof of address, and note that a short safety test is carried out before use. A recurring theme is the readiness to help beyond the basics: when one customer's scooter battery ran low, staff allowed it to be charged; in another case, a scooter was collected from a hotel after the hirer was hospitalised, and a taxi was arranged for a group returning to their accommodation.

Reviewers frequently mention the low cost of daily hire and the reassurance of being shown how to operate the vehicle safely. The couple who run the office are singled out for their friendly and accommodating manner, including resolving a booking mix-up with a refund and a complimentary scooter. Wheelchair and scooter provision for day trips, concerts and family visits comes up often, with the team's calm handling of practical difficulties leaving customers feeling well supported.
